There are hundreds of baby brands out there for clothing and there is no denying…

My Start with Beautycounter
Have you ever tried something and immediately been impressed? Maybe it’s chocolate cake… maybe it’s lipstick. For me – I have found great joy in a new beauty and skin care line… and I can’t even believe I am typing this. Throughout my lifetime of trying many skin and beauty brands I have never been brand loyal – always jumping around trying this and that. I use it a few times and under my sink it goes. But for once, I have bought multiple products from the same brand and finished them, ready and excited to buy again and try more. That is what initiated me taking the next step with Beautycounter and becoming a consultant.
For those who haven’t heard of Beautycounter, our mission is to get safer products into the hands of everyone. The growing collection includes safer skin care, hair care, bath & body products, kids’ and babies’ products, anti-aging treatments, and high-performance makeup. I have been a brand lover for less than a year, but I can promise you there is no going back to big box beauty stores like Sephora or Ulta for my makeup except for my absolute favorites – I don’t discriminate…). But let’s be honest, I always felt like an idiot in there anyway because I suck at makeup and do the bare minimum.
Part of becoming a mom means trying to simplify as much in my life as I can. A simple and consistent makeup and skincare routine saves me time and energy. Even 2 minutes a day goes a long way when I have my hands full. Gone are the days of racking up products under my bathroom sink. Refusing to throw them away because of the money I once spent on them. I know this sounds dramatic but it has been a HUGE relief to try products that I love and that I finish!
This post is really just to share my start with Beautycounter, I don’t know how much time I will be able to dedicate to it given I am working full-time at Dr. Dish Basketball and trying to maintain Mom & social life — but I do know that I enjoy their products and anything that I find value in is worth me sharing with you.
So, why else did I decide to venture into this new biz?
Here are the 2 main reasons I joined Beautycounter:
Cleaner Beauty
Being pregnant and seeing the words “do not use if pregnant or nursing” in the fine print of my products definitely made me think twice about what I was using. Heck – I use safer cleaning products in my home the least I could do is consider what I am using on myself! Did you know the United States has not passed a major federal law regulating the cosmetics industry since 1938?! There are more than 80,000 chemicals on the market today. Many don’t have any safety data. This is particularly true of those used in the skincare and beauty industry. I’m not trying to go all hippy on you, but it is something to consider… Beautycounter prohibits the use of 1,500+ questionable or harmful ingredients when formulating the products.
Something else to noodle – in the UK there are over 1400 harmful ingredients banned, and in the US – there at 30.
Not only does it work but it treats you well.
Better Results
I have spared no expense trying to get my skin under control. This means many skin routines, and mineral based makeup to limit breakouts and keep my oily skin under control. I have found multiple BC products that make me feel better in my skin. This sometimes means doing a better job covering up my blemishes or longevity of wear, keeping me fresh all day.
Over the last few months, with pregnancy hormones still lingering, I won’t deny that I look in the mirror and am embarrassed of the blemishes. It is one thing that I have dealt with my entire adult life. At the same time I do realize it is who I am and it is a characteristic that God gave me. But I strongly believe that confidence radiates and effects all areas of like so if using Countertime / Countercontrol or products like the Tint Skin Hydration Foundation or Mattifying Powder can spark some happiness because I feel better about myself when I look in the mirror, those are products I can stand behind.
Something to know about me is that I am the worst sales person in the world, so please trust me when I say that I have no desire to sell anyone on anything. When I was in high school I worked at the Buckle one summer and didn’t once get passed my sales marks/commission to break minimum wage – let’s just say I didn’t get asked back the next summer. I share that because my intentions are always pure and authentic.
I’ll soon be sharing my favorite products, Beautycounter’s top selling items, and more about my routines in the future – but if you can’t wait… please reach out! Through facebook messenger, Instagram DM’s, cell, or email. Cheers to new adventures!
